I met Audrey and Justin when we all attended Wartburg College. Justin was on the baseball team, and a diehard Cubs fan. When I first heard they were engaged, I secretly hoped they’d pick me to photograph their wedding. Audrey is one of the most beautiful girls I’ve ever met, and I knew their big day would be something special.
Audrey and Justin were married on July 7, 2012 at the Wartburg College Chapel. It was one of the hottest days of the summer — and this from a Texan! Ecker’s Flowers created beautiful maroon floral designs, hand-crafted by one of my college roommates.
We took photos in typical Knight fashion — by the Chapel, the St. Francis statue, the skywalks, and the random statue by Vogel Library — and headed indoors to cool off. The ceremony was intimate, and the love was palpable. After the wedding ceremony, we headed to the baseball fields, where Justin and a few groomsmen played ball for the ‘Burg. Beer and batting practice made for a harrowing experience, but once I got the guys to focus, we took a ton of fun photos!
After the baseball field and bleacher photo opts, I followed the party bus on a Tour de Waverly, including a stop at the Pour House for shot-skis. Lemme tell you, those Parker women are shot-ski champs!
The reception was held at the country club, and the sunset was magnificent. I borrowed Audrey’s ring for a bit and got some unique detail shots with various decorations, then enjoyed a delicious buffet-style dinner. The bride and groom danced the night away, and I was lucky enough to steal them away for a few photos on the golf course at sunset. Guests enjoyed personalized popcorn buckets, munchies, and an idyllic atmosphere.
