Jacob and Janay were married on August 4, 2013 in McKinney, Texas. Since meeting this couple months ago, I knew it was an honor to be their wedding photographer — their love for each other is obvious, and they cherish their children and faith. Blending families were the bride’s son, Caden, and the groom’s daughters, Breckin and Kayden. Seriously — they each have a child with the same name — how perfect is that?
When I originally met with Jacob and Janay and they told me about their kids, I wondered how the kids felt about their parents getting married. Would they be annoyed? Resentful? When I met Breckin, Kayden, and Caden for the couple’s engagement session, they were inseparable! Honestly it was impossible to tell they weren’t all biological siblings. To distinguish between names, Kayden goes by KK, and Caden goes affectionately by Ca-Ca. This family is the real deal — a perfect combination of love, fun, and family values.
I knew Janay, Breckin, and Kayden were beautiful before August 4, but on the day of the wedding they were simply stunning! Janay selected teal dresses for her new daughters, and Jacob and Caden had teal accents as well — I loved Jacob’s teal-soled Vans shoes!
The ceremony was held at the Bella Donna Chapel at the Adriatica in McKinney, and it was one of the most beautiful chapels I’ve ever seen! So ornate with Tuscan and Mediterranean accents. It seriously reminded me of Italy (or what Italy would be like, as I’ve never been… yet!). Just gorgeous!
Janay’s dress was elegant, detailed, and oh-so-unique! The back was absolutely to-die-for! After the ceremony we took a few photos at the Bella Donna before heading over to the reception at The Flour Mill, near downtown McKinney.
Let me just tell you — if I was awestruck by the ceremony location (which, duh, I was!), the reception venue was equally as amazing! Taking place in an old flour mill, the brick walls, rustic accents, high ceilings, and beautiful lighting was just magnificent.
