If rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, then Jeff and Shawna are quite a lucky couple! The Buskers were married in McConnell, IL on September 28, 2013, with the reception in Lena, IL. I met Shawna when she was a bridesmaid in Heather and Brandon’s wedding last fall. I could immediately tell she had the biggest heart, and I was so excited when she asked me to be her wedding photographer.
Jeff and Shawna were blending their families, and their three kids (Jeff’s daughter and Shawna’s son and daughter) are just the cutest, most loving children I’ve had the chance to photograph in a long time. And talk about a photogenic family!
This country wedding played off the theme “The Hunt is Over,” with quite possibly the cutest coozies I’ve seen! Camo with intertwined deer heads and a family tree showing the couple’s devotion to their children. Other details included ring shots with Jeff’s shell casings and fishing hooks, and plenty of camouflage and festive fall decorations.
It was great seeing Heather at the reception, and I loved how I’ve photographed her veil twice now — she lent it to Shawna, who couldn’t decide if she wanted a veil or not for her big day. I’m glad she decided to use it — we got some beautiful photos with it!
Despite the torrential downpour that started right after the ceremony (and lasted throughout the night), the entire bridal party were troopers and endured the rain to get some memorable photos. If you ask me, the rain added to the lush beauty of Paradise Cove, where we stopped before the reception.
A quick trip to Legend’s bar allowed the couple to get the party started before a delicious dinner (and cute cupcakes!) that culminated in the guests dancing the rest of the night away.
