Now presenting dual-Pinterest boards for my brides-to-be (and grooms too, don’t feel left out, guys!). In the age of Pinterest, an online bulletin board to “pin” ideas, wedding photographers have had to step up our games to win the hearts of our brides. As a wedding photographer, I have a love/hate relationship with good ol’ Pinterst. I’ll be the first to admit that Pinterest can be both a blessing in disguise… and a burden.
Why the burden, you ask? Some brides gather unrealistic expectations based off the pins they see on Pinterest. Many breathtaking Pinterest photos are staged before or after a wedding, and don’t actually take place during the hectic wedding day itself. Other pins may be unrealistic due to other factors — weather, time restraints, locale. Planning a summer wedding but falling in love with the snowy, wintery wedding photos you’ve been pinning? Danielle and Shawn are a young couple from Lena, Illinois. How’d I get acquainted with this small Northern Illinois town? Sadie, a good friend from Wartburg College (who also happens to live in Frisco, Texas!), is Dani’s cousin, and I’m SO lucky I got the chance to capture their love!
Last fall, while I was still living in the Chicago suburbs, I traveled out to Lena for Dani and Shawn’s engagement session. Fast forward 8 months and I’d find myself back in Lena for the wedding, on a toasty Midwestern summer day!
